There exist three main types of Solar Rooftop Systems-

1. On-Grid Rooftop Systems – These systems are connected to the main power grid and sends excess power back to the grid. Hence, they don’t require batteries to store power. This system is recommended for those looking to reduce their monthly bill, situated in places with low frequency of power outages and want to make money from the sun.
2. Off-Grid Rooftop System – These systems require batteries to store energy for later use as they are not connected to the main grid. They are best suited for areas where grid connectivity is bleak. Consequently, they are costlier than their On-Grid counterpart because of the inclusion of batteries.
3. Hybrid Systems – They are grid connected and also consist of batteries to store power. Obviously, they are the costliest of the three and are considered a luxury option as they encompass both On-Grid and Off-Grid’s core competencies.

Are Solar Panels easily breakable?

No, they are not. Good quality solar panels, like the ones used by Helios, are angled sturdily, are water resistant, and do not have any moving parts. This gives them the ability to withstand external pressures of all sorts, ranging from wind, dust, and rain to even monkey menace and more. Improper installation, extreme pressure or lack of care given to solar panels, however, may result in them losing this immunity, so best advice is to give good and regular maintenance.

Do Solar Panels not work in cloudy weather?

This is a popular myth. Solar panels function on the principle of light energy being converted to electrical energy. Therefore, as long as there is sunlight, high quality Solar panels can ensure up to 75% of peak electricity production even on the cloudiest days of winter / monsoon months.

Do Solar Panels not work during power cuts?

Only On-Grid Solar Systems don’t produce electricity during power cuts from the grid because of their half-dependency on the main power grid . Off-Grid Solar Systems and Hybrid Solar Systems, however, can produce electricity even during power cuts by virtue of batteries.

Can I use Air Conditioners on Solar power?

Yes, you can. As a matter of fact, not only can you run your entire house completely on solar, you can also expect optimum performance of load-heavy appliances like Air Conditioners, geysers, etc.

How to clean Solar panels?

Make sure to clean your panels ideally in the night as there is no incident light that can cause the panels to start conducting electricity. You can clean them using a wet cloth on a dry day, or a water hose, to ensure dirt is removed but the moisture is not sticking around on the panels. How often you clean the system depends on the season. You may need to clean more often during the summer months when there is more dust in the air and fewer rain showers to rinse the panels clean. However, do not attempt to clean the wiring underneath the panels.

What are the different system sizes Helios offers?

Can I avail bank finance for my rooftop solar project?

Yes , it is possible to get loans from banks but quite difficult for large- scale and small-scale solar projects. If you take a loan from bank the rate of interest will be in between 10-13% but Helios provides loans at 11.99%. Moreover, 4% cash back is given by Helios after 1 year.

What is the rate of interest for a Solar Loan?

Helios caps the interest rate at 10.99%. If our partner charges more for the loan, we give the difference in interest amount as cashback.
